Great board. Lots of help.
Doin' my 1st build. Been out of shooting for some years. How do you recommend finding a FFL? How much do they normally charge to act as delivery person for a stipped lower? Any other info I should know/ask? Many thanks! |

Try this:
http://www.gunslive.com/dealerlocator Sorry I don't know how to hot link so you have to cut and paste. FFL transfers usually run like $20 - 30 depending on the dealer. You should call the FFL first and make sure they are ok with transferring to you. It also speeds things up if the FFL sends a copy of his FFL ahead of time or if they already have one on file. I've just done this for the first time so I'm no expert but I hope this helps. |

They have a list of all the FFL's they have records on. I found one near my house and then contacted him to see if he was still accepting transfers. He confirmed that he did, and told me that he charges $20 per transfer. I've dealt with him several times since, and found he has a pretty nice little shop. Also found out that he's got a thread in the INDUSTRY forum - Good-2-Go Tactical. Great guys, and they have an on-line business as well. |
| + a bunch on the pawn shop tip. I've found that pawn shops are WAY easier to deal with and cheaper than gun stores. Many gun shops are of the opinion that you're costing them a sale when they do a courtesy transfer so they gouge you for it. My local pawn shop guy is happy to make an easy $20. |
