No newly made civilian-owned machine guns are allowed. Period. You can do the SBR by "making" it and filing the Form 1 (and paying the $200 tax), but you CANNOT build a new machine gun for private ownership. Sorry. Blame Congress for that one.

There's no such thing as a select fire SBR since MG's don't carry barrel length restrictions like semi autos do. Semi auto SBR = 1 stamp. MG buy = 1 stamp with no minimum barrel length requirement. The only way you can have a MG is if you fork out $10K+ for a registered receiver or $5K+ for a RLL or RDIAS. Otherwise it's not legal for a private owner to build a new MG. |

NO GO. ETA - You could get your CII mfrs license, FFL/SOT Type 07. Then you could make one, but it would have to remain the property of your company. AND you need documentation from some potential customer that says they're interested in what you might have to offer. A type 7 license is not a "license to play with machine guns." It's also expensive with tedious record keeping requirements. |
