I'm thinking of buying a Spikes Tactical receiver for my first build. I've heard a lot of good things but I recently ran across a post talking about how Spikes Tactical lost most of its business because of ARFCOM.

| i personally haven't delt with them yet but i can't see why they would have lost business because of ArF. the only reason i've heard of them is because of this forum. above poster is right too. i always see posts by badazzar15 and he seems to be very helpful and involved. |

They have good color, fit and finish. They function flawlessly. No complaints on that end of things.
I bought 2 of his lowers prior to his price hike immediately after the election. Whether or not he did this in response to his increased production costs or to opportunistically price gouge fellow shooters, I don't know. I doubt anyone outside his business will ever know. I will say however that he picked a VERY poor time to raise his prices without any warning or announcement of the lower increase. Poor business planning and borderline shady ethics. All that aside, he seems like a nice guy and helpful in his posts. I personally probably won't ever do business with him again because I can't afford to spend $179 on a lower when I can get one for 105. Plus I already have 2 of his lowers and 3 more on the way from Del-ton at a more acceptable price. IMHO, YMMV and all that. |
| Lost business? They have expanded and still have so many orders they can't keep up, like most manufacturers right now. Spikes is among the best built AR platforms available. Anything they have built for me runs great. And they have the best customer service you could hope for. |

Yeah, I’ve heard a lot of great things and I like their custom lowers (with the engraving). I was just curious as to why people said “spikes lost most of its business because of AR15.com.”
But thanks for the information. I’ll probably be placing my order today! |

I have a Spike's lower and have absolutely no problem with them. The references in the other thread were due to Spike's raising prices on lowers right around the time of the election. There was a lot of bashing of Spike's and other vendors that raised prices. After the bashing was well under way, Spike's finally came on and explained that they raised their prices in response to increased prices from thier suppliers.
I have no reason to doubt them, and will do business with them in the future without hesitation if they have a product I want/need. |
| +1 for spikes I got my lower so quick from the order I place dec 15th, also got a young BCG and a Spikes stripped flat top upper. There customer service was A+ even with these crazy times, I wont shop anywhere else because of the quality stripped lowers, uppers, accessories and Customer service. Next up from spikes is the daniel defense lite rail! |
| Well tot ell you the truth..I dont care for their customer service at all! I called and spoke to AJ and he seems to rush me off the phone and never could answer my question directley. This is not the customer service I would expect after placing a order for almost $1700 on a firearm...Not happy with them at all..I could understand that they probably are busy but NEVER NEVER hang up a phone on a customer when they feel they were rushed the entire time being on the phone! Never spole to Tom over there, just AJ...So if Tom is listeing you need to adress this problem with you employees...I still dont think Im gonna have my order straight...I was called by their shipping dept and they told me my lower was in...Firts off I ordered an entire rifle..the lower wasnt right one to begin with...then they couldnt find the order...then they did and everything wasnt even on it...SO Once again I was rushed by AJ and still dont feel like he payed attention...just remember...this is all gonna die down...and when it does...I dont think I'll ever deal with spikes agian...... |

AJ really is a great guy just overwhelmed with phone calls, the phone rings every 1-2 minutes so its not easy. Not trying to make any excuses just being honest. I had a problem with one of my orders from Spikes (it was only $40), but I received extremely great customer service. I was sent the wrong part and they exchanged the part (it had the wrong threading) and sent me a free T-shirt to make up for the return shipping. I'm pretty sure that after the shipping costs and T-shirt were totaled, they lost money on my order. But that didn't seem to matter to them, only that I got my correct order.
I would order from them again without thinking twice... |
when they had their group buy for lowers, normal price 125 sale price was 100 each this summer I emailed if non arfcom members could buy and I did not get a response in time. so instead of getting pissed I just gave them a call. the nice lady said hold on a minute, she found my email and said no problem. they even got me 3 consecutive serial numbers.  my FFL had the lowers the very next day along with every other piece I ordered
since then I have bought a lot more things from them both in person at the gun shows and online and the service is outstanding. did I tell you my spike national match BCG and my spikes upper receiver showed up the very next day after I ordered it |

The only issue with Spike's was that they made the choice to jack the price of their lower from $115 to $179 as soon as the election was counted.
This didn't sit well with a number of people as they felt like Spike's was part of the community and should not have done that to "their people" It seemed greedy and wrong for them to do. Whatever your opinion, act accordingly. I ordered 10 lowers from them at the lower price and wouldn't order one at $179 as that is ridiculous. It seems many others don't agree as they are selling plenty of them right now. I personally find the profiteering of it all leaves a bad taste in my mouth others may not. But it was never an issue of service or quality or anything else... Purely an ethics, I thought we were buds sort of thing. |
| My .02, I recently encountered a HUGE problem with my current build on which I'm using a beautiful Spikes lower. Thru NO fault at all on the part of Spikes, rather the un-savory business pratices of a "third party" who shall remain name-less. Spike personally got involved (at HIS expense!) and saved the day! Above and beyond? You bet your sweet a**! Everyone over there is friendly, knowledgable, and respectful. You would be hard pressed to find a better bunch of people, not just in the gun industry, but in general! They manufacture in my opinion, the nicest AR parts I've ever seen. In case your wondering if I'm a "fanboy" I say Damn Skippy! And to that you can add a customer for life. Thank-you Angela, Ross, Tom, and especially Spike for turning what could have easily been a nightmare into a dream come true. |
Spikes is the best! I have been looking everywhere for a YHM specter length forend. I really wanted the diamond series, but nobody has any. I finally talked to Spikes and they had a few of the SD Clone Kits with the YHM lightweight specter length forend, YHM gas block and Spikes fake can. Orders always get to me quick, so I place my order online and get a call the next day from them saying that they are are out of the lightweight forends, but have some diamond series forends that they were using for complete upper builds and would substitute for the lightweight. Needless to say I was happy as hell and my kit showed up the next day. I have always been happy with purchases from Spikes, weither it be online or at the Spikes booth at the gun show. I hope in the future I can build a complete Spikes rifle. SPIKES RULES

Here's my take. Spikes jacked their prices up immediately after the election to gouge the consumers. Then tried to say that their suppliers raised their prices which caused the increase, which is false. Cold War Shooters did the same.
They really don't sell anything special. Fake cans, fake grenade launchers, fake this, fake that. Silly engravings, over priced lowers, and Yankee Hill everything. I see no use for fake trash on a firearm if you are over 16 years old. I don't want some engraving on a rifle that says "Born To Kill" or anything silly. If I want a Shaw barrel upper I'll call Model 1 sales. I see no need to buy a lower for 50% + more than most real respectable businesses. What they do sell that is of quality, which is few, can be found elsewhere cheaper. And support respectable businesses while doing so. The only product I was interested in that Spikes had was a 22 conversion. After Spikes showed that they were not a reputable company, I ordered a CMMG conversion. I felt I should support my disdain for shoddy business practices by not giving monetary reward to Spikes and buying from CMMG. This is my opinion only, and your may be different. But I will never buy form them again. There are too many good businesses, and many are Industry Partners here, to buy from the folks at Spikes. |

Spike's are GTG! No issues, great products and customer service of the highest order. I've been dealing with the for close to 10+ years and very time is a pleasure. Fit and finish of the Spike's lowers are outstanding and just like Burger King, have it your way. The dedicated .22LR uppers are the CAT'S ASS!!!!!!! ....And don't get me started on the Havoc flare launchers, freakin fantastic. You will be very happy purchasing from them. Great folks selling great stuff.

Spikes it awesome, I have made 3 purchases from them so far. These lowers I have an fantastic. My new concussion upper that came in is amazing and they were GREAT on the phone with my wife and my mother in law when they were trying to order shit they had no idea about for xmas. Buy with confidence and you will be impressed when you get it.
As far as the whining and frankly, what I consider to just be unreasonable expectations, I cannot understand what is wrong with a lot of people on this site. If you want something custom built, you are going to have to wait. If you want quality, you have to pay more. I was a competitive pistol shooter before I was into rifles and I had to wait 7 months for my pistol to be built. There was no run on guns or parts, it was just the way it was. Things had to be fit, tested, fit, tested, finished, tested and so on. In addition, I paid 3800 for the gun. Up front. 7 months before I got the gun. You want a custom paint job for your car, you will have to wait and if you want a good one, you will have to pay, I don't see how the price of a spikes lower compared to a RRA lower is that big a deal. In addition, I cannot fathom how or why your would compare a spike's lower to an EA lower. My custom built STI is not in the same league as my glock. Yes, they are bout 40cal, but my ass if just because they both shoot they should be on an equal plain. HK does not = kel tec. FAB does not = Larue. I don't understand why this is so hard to comprehend. All ARs were not created equally. Gonna end it here to avoid sounding like I am ranting, but I will say I have imed spikes far more times then I have purchased from them. Most of the time was about AR functioning questions in general, not about their product. They are on here all the time trying to help out for free and people still piss and moan because they use to have lowers at a crazy low price. Spikes, you guys are awesome and thanks for the help. OP buy your stuff from them and enjoy. |
