I have a friend who is a FFL who can get me either a Double Star, Fulton Armory or CMMG stripped lower for a decent price.  Which would you choose and why?  This is going to be my first build and actually first post on this site, so I could use the help.  I did read the excellent write up on lowers but didn't see some of these names.  I am going to put this with the group buy on the Stag upper.  Thanks for all the help!

CMMG because I own one of their uppers and I'm VERY happy with it.

My first choice would be CMMG because of the name... and thats all.  The other lowers will be just fine, if not exactly the same.  Most lowers are made by the same companies, and are just stamped with diffrent name on them.  If you can get good priced lowers from any one of those names, i would get as many as you can! maybe get one for me too :)

I own 3 CMMG and 1 Doublestar and I like them all. No issues with DPMS, Stag or Doublestar LPKs. I think ether would be fine. I like DSC roll marks better as far as looks go

2 each, doublestar and superior, with one more doublestar on the way.

love 'em all, but i'm a bit more partial to the doublestar finish as it doesn't soak up oil like a sponge.

I heartily agree with the above majority, CMMG before the others you mentioned. I have several different brands and do own a CMMG and its great....<><....:)

I have an Essential Arms and think it is a very nice lower.  I would definately go with them.

I have a few Spikes Tactical lowers and they went together with DPMS parts kits like butter. I like the color filled bullet markings too, it is a nice touch. I have one that has the spider logo color filled but I am partial to just color bullet markings. My .02

See, I'm just the opposite, I don't like the DoubleStar lowers because they do have a shine to them, almost like paint.  (I think it's moly)  I like my stuff to be that dull matte black, which you're right, shows oil spots like a mofo.  I absolute love my MEGA upper and lower cuz it's got that pure deep black matte look.

FWIW, I think the CMMG's have that matte black look, similar to the Spike's shown above.

Mega for sure. But out of the lowers on the list, my vote goes for doublestar. The fit and finish on mine is great, actually a much tighter fit than my mega lower.

Just had two Double Star lowers show up today! *jumps up and down*  I love the fit and finish....
I still have another DTI lower and it is the matte/dull finish...that one will be fine for everyday use, drag through the mud, toss around AR...LOL...

At the end of the day, as long as it is in Spec, who cares what is stamped on the side...LOL
