Are all forged lower receiveivers really the same? are the roll marks the only thing that makes them different from the next? I have been looking at Rock River, Stag, Noveske, Colt, and etc.

Of those you mentioned the only real difference is that the Colt lower will have hammer and trigger pin holes that are incompatible with everybody else's FCGs.

A lower is a lower is a lower is a lower, see note about Colt above and stay away from carbon and plastic and anything named Vulcan, Hessee or Blackthorne

Typically they are all the same except for Colt & RRA but some lowers are out of spec & some are not.

forged is forged, a few have a lower rear shelf if you desire to install a RDIAS

They are on the tighter side of the spec & some others, including myself, have had issues with them fitting with other manufacturers uppers. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of before hand.

I know forged lowers are better, however does anyone make lowers from castings?? I would like to know so I could weigh the price difference between forged or casting.  Thanks.

What do you guys think the best lower would be for a Bravo Company lower?

anything.. so long as you can assemble it, it doesn't make one bit of difference.

That is all I need to know, I was not sure if anyone still made cast lowers.  Thanks.

How much lower is the rear shelf...? The reason I ask is that I just received an 80% forged lower and the FCG and RTD wells have me confused... They don't look like the print (redraw from colt circa 1993, the one that everyone seems to be using)...

The print says the rear shelf should be .630" deep, and the rear shelf on this 80%'er is closer to .665" deep...

I've compared it to both my Armalite M15A2 and my Colt LE6920, both of which are a lot different than each other, and from the 80%'er...

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

TIA.
