I'm interested in building a varmit/target rifle.  I don't need the best equipment, but I don't want junk.  Does anyone know anything about model 1 sales kits??  This will be my first build.

Thanks

probably OK, but I would consider one of the vendors on here first such as J&T or Del-Ton.   I don't want to jinx myself but J&T has been getting orders out to me pretty quickly.

Thanks jnatv.

Do the dealers you suggested have better quality or just a better know name and service?

I have had more than one dealer recommend model 1 when I asked about building in the past. I don't have any experience with them but if I were the dealer I wouldn't make bad recommendations because they'd probably come back to bite you at some point. The prices looked really good last time I checked.

I have built 10+ guns with model one kits, 4 in 204 ruger, the rest in 223. All shot  one inch or less off of sandbags with no function problems, with one of the 223's throwing a 10 shot group under 1/2 inch .

I've heard nothing, but good things about them.  Their barrels come from E.R.Shaw.  If that helps you any.  They've got good prices IMO.  As I ordered a barrel from them this morning.

Ordered a M1S 20"/A3/1:9 Nov 2. Still waiting but have a second build in works with a Sabre 20" Gov't 1:7 so the long wait isn't making me reach for the Tums.

My previous M1S upper was GTG. A2/1:9 E.R. Shaw. No complaints with fit/finish/function.

I called them a couple of weeks ago and they told me 14 weeks wait.

I have a 16" SS bull barrel varmint upper that has performed perfectly, one of the most accurate guns I own, not one hiccup to date.
