Question for you experts!!
I am interested in building a rifle for varmint hunting and some target shooting. It will be my first build, so do you suggest a kit or piece by piece. I am not to concerned about super accuracy and I don't want to spend more than I have to, and yet I know the value of good quality. If a kit, are there any suggestions where to purchase from? Also are there any suggestions on 20" barrel vs 24" barrel? Any info would be appreciated. |

For a first time builder we generally recommend getting a kit with the upper receiver already barrelled. One can assemble the lower the only the most basic hand tools but you need special tools to properly attach the barrel to the receiver. And depending on the handguards you want that may be even more tools.
With things the way they are since the election I can't even begin to tell you who has kits in stock. But if you shop around with any of the vendors that advertise on each page here you'll be dealing with good, quality products and service. I would start with J&T, Del-ton, RRA Bushmaster and Armalite though. Good luck and welcome aboard. + |
