[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Mix and Match?

I tried searching but didn't find an answer. Can you mix and match A2 fixed stock lowers with carbine length uppers (carbine gas length system) as well as M4 style stocked lowers with rifle length (rifle gas length system) uppers? Mid length as well? And what about the 18" SPR's or 16" barrels with rifle length gas systems? I'm just curious.

rock it, the only thing I can think of, is you cannot use a Carbine buffer in an A-2 stock. other than that most uppers will work on most lowers etc.

Thanks Kells. I was sort of figuring that the gas system/barrel was where the adjustment, ie. gas port size difference, took place and that was all that was needed. Too funny, all these years and I never tried switching my two rifles.
