depends on which buffer tube you are using. carbine 6 -pos tube = carbine spring and buffer.
Rifle buffer tube = rifle spring and buffer.
I switched my carbine buffer to a RRA 9mm buffer on my 16" mid length. It lessened the felt recoil.
