you want the basic KISS rifle.....that's about it. The Delton lower and M4 kit and your GTG. if you want it KISS and inexpensive you got a good AR there. Of course you'll need ammo and a good cleaning kit

If you want to start Pimping it out......Optics, and rails for more accessories if thats what you want (ie front grip, bipod etc flashlight) ENJOY!!!

there's nothing wrong with a KISS AR but building it is the way to go

first off, welcome aboard and welcome to the sickness known as BRD. Del-Ton makes a quality kit from what everyone around here posts, i've seen several rifle kits and their lowers at gunshows. i would say that the products are of a very high quality like the J&T kits, i would suggest a A3/flattop upper and detachable carry handle so you can add optics if you wish too. also i would suggest chrome lining of the barrel for ease of cleaning and barrel longevity, but this is not a must, i personally believe in the "go chrome or go home" approach, just my opinion their lowers look to be made by Superior Arms from the looks of them(i could be wrong), but none the less quality lower. just buy ammo and mags, as much as possible before you can't, i personally go with 10 mags per rifle and 5 per pistol as a minimum. just take your time and read around about any "upgrades" you might want. they also sell a red dot called a SPOT, not an aimpoint but a very very good dot for the money and they are not made in china which is a huge plus to me. good luck and post pics when finished

a few more questions. i was reading some posts and no one mentioned anything about m4 feedramps, is it  necessary. also i want to save some money so is a chromoly ok comparred to chrome lining. i dont think this gun will ever see 10,000 rds, i'd like it to but i dont think it will happen. probably will shoot the cheapest brass i can get. dont plan on any of that crappy wolf stuff or any other steel junk.

IMO I'd pay the extra 45 bucks to get the chrome lining.

Whats wrong with steel cased ammo? When it comes to practice quantity is better than quality. Steel cased ammo sells 2:1 vs brass. Wolf might be a little underpowered and dirty but there is nothing wrong with it. I run it and any other steel case ammo through my $1300 AR.

nothin' wrong with it. its just gets  to dirty after a couple of 100 rds. what about the feed ramps?

Feed ramps are not required, but are a nice-to-have insurance against weak mag springs causing the nose of your bullets to miss the feed ramp and cause a FTF for that special time when Mr.Murphy comes to visit during a SHTF moment.  But like I said, IMHO, not at all required... just your choice/decision.

ETA: that said, I have M4 ramps in all my rifles for the warm fuzzies.

I drink the M4 feed ramp kool-aid too. Do some reading on them, there is about 1 bizillion threads on them.

FWIW I ran a 4 day practical carbine course that required 700 rounds. All I did during the 4 days was kept it lubed up and my rifle never skipped a beat. When I cleaned it it looked like I was cleaning mud out of the rifle but she ran flawless none the less. All I'm saying is don't over look or not stock cheap(er), dirty ammo because it "gets too dirty" after a few hundred rounds.

I've been very happy with Del-Ton parts. Put together another one today.

FWIW, there was a new warning tag included with this one... "The following ammunition will void the warranty: Wolf, Norinco, any steel cased ammo, any lacquer coated ammo, any reloaded ammo."

If you care. Mine run fine with Wolf.

Just FYI, most people run minumum

~Chrome Line

~M4 Feedramp

~Flattop upper w/detach carry handle or BUIS

And I drank the Mid-Length cool-aid so that's all I have. No M4's for me!

But if someone had one at a good price {not now of course} I'd get an M4, just so you

know. If you're looking to save money then all above aren't needed per se. They are

just more adaptible and reliable. By how much more reliable, I dunno. Especially in

your case it may not be worth it. But I'd do it obviously. It's kinda like insurance. Piece

of Mind.

I'm glad you started this thread, I just bought a Stag lower and bought a Del-Ton LPK. They do have good prices, so on to the upper, and I'll be needing help also

I have nothing but love for Del-Ton.  I put my first build together from them.  It's run 100% since the day I first fired it.

I opted for a CM 1x9 bbl /w M4 feed ramps, and YHM BUIS.  I love it.

Just ordered a midlength kit yesterday to go with my dpms lower.

You will drink the Mid-Length cool-aid and it will be good. Just be sure to try a bud's M4 out to compare. In time. Congrats BTW

Here's my Del-Ton 16" mid length rifle kit that I just finished putting together today.  I built it on a CMMG lower.  Everything went together just fine.  No issues with parts not fitting, color match, etc.  I ordered the kit on November 2nd and it arrived yesterday, November 25th.  Thank God I ordered when I did...
