you want the basic KISS rifle.....that's about it. The Delton lower and M4 kit and your GTG. if you want it KISS and inexpensive you got a good AR there. Of course you'll need ammo and a good cleaning kit
If you want to start Pimping it out......Optics, and rails for more accessories if thats what you want (ie front grip, bipod etc flashlight) ENJOY!!! there's nothing wrong with a KISS AR but building it is the way to go |
first off, welcome aboard and welcome to the sickness known as BRD . Del-Ton makes a quality kit from what everyone around here posts, i've seen several rifle kits and their lowers at gunshows. i would say that the products are of a very high quality like the J&T kits, i would suggest a A3/flattop upper and detachable carry handle so you can add optics if you wish too. also i would suggest chrome lining of the barrel for ease of cleaning and barrel longevity, but this is not a must, i personally believe in the "go chrome or go home" approach, just my opinion

| a few more questions. i was reading some posts and no one mentioned anything about m4 feedramps, is it necessary. also i want to save some money so is a chromoly ok comparred to chrome lining. i dont think this gun will ever see 10,000 rds, i'd like it to but i dont think it will happen. probably will shoot the cheapest brass i can get. dont plan on any of that crappy wolf stuff or any other steel junk. |

IMO I'd pay the extra 45 bucks to get the chrome lining.
Whats wrong with steel cased ammo? When it comes to practice quantity is better than quality. Steel cased ammo sells 2:1 vs brass. Wolf might be a little underpowered and dirty but there is nothing wrong with it. I run it and any other steel case ammo through my $1300 AR. |

nothin' wrong with it. its just gets to dirty after a couple of 100 rds. what about the feed ramps? I drink the M4 feed ramp kool-aid too. Do some reading on them, there is about 1 bizillion threads on them. FWIW I ran a 4 day practical carbine course that required 700 rounds. All I did during the 4 days was kept it lubed up and my rifle never skipped a beat. When I cleaned it it looked like I was cleaning mud out of the rifle but she ran flawless none the less. All I'm saying is don't over look or not stock cheap(er), dirty ammo because it "gets too dirty" after a few hundred rounds. |

I've been very happy with Del-Ton parts. Put together another one today.
FWIW, there was a new warning tag included with this one... "The following ammunition will void the warranty: Wolf, Norinco, any steel cased ammo, any lacquer coated ammo, any reloaded ammo." If you care. Mine run fine with Wolf. |
