If I buy a 7.62x39 complete upper does it mount directly to any ar15 lower? Will accept Ak mags or do I need special 7.62x39 mags for the ar receiver?

The AR lower will not accept Ak mags - you'll need AR style 7.62x39 magazines. AFAIK- a 7.62x39 upper will go onto an AR lower with no mods. The only real differences are the barrel, bolt, and magazines.

You can use standard 5.56 mags with 6 or 7 rounds loaded, or get 10 or 30 round magazines new from C Products. If you can find them the now out of production frankenmags made by USA also work.
