Within the next week ordering 2 Ar's

Looking at the 16" custom upper or the M4 custom upper

http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assemblies_Custom_16_Barrel_Assemblies_s/181.htm

either with:

1x9 Chrome, YMH 4 Rail Free Float, Detachable Handle

The non M4 is $20.00 cheaper. Is there any differance?

Both barrels have the sight post - is the sight installed?

Is the sight installed on the detachable handle?

If you're gonna go the 16" route, why do you want the carbine(m4) upper? I wanted a 16",so I ended up buying their mid-length upper.
I could understand buying the carbine if you want to cut it down to 14.5 and SBR'ing it,or maybe cutting it down and then perm attach a flashider on it to make it 16" over-all.
Plus the midlength is cheaper!
P.S.
I love my Del-Ton midlength! Oh,and the front sights do come on all of their uppers. If you buy a flat-top,you have to pay extra for the carry handle sight, but When I bought my sight, they let me have it at a discount(to complete my upper). Del-Ton is good to go!

I've got a 16" Delton midlength with those rails and barrel. I would recommend the lightweight rails.

Not looking at cutting it. For mounting space plus able to cover the middle or rear of the rails for ease of handling or add a grip  - the mid length handguard is prob a good idea.

Is there a noticable differance from the lighweight hand guards to the regular?

On Del-Tons website the carbine & mid length are 395 stock. The M4 is 20 more. Prices must have gone up?

Looking at the M4 since it comes with a heavier barrel & M4 feed ramps, mid length seems the way to go.

Thx for the input. Ordered recently from Del-Ton  - 2 M4 lowers. 1 M4 1x7 with YMH railed handguard. 1 A3 16" 1x9 with mid length YMH railed handguard. Also 12 30d mags. ETA 12-16 weeks :)

Putting an order together for carry handles, more mags & misc parts. Of course ammo :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

What timing....I was calling DEL-TON next week to order my Midlength.

Do you mind posting picture of your Del-Ton. Here's what I want to order

16" Midlength
YHM Quad Rail (LW or reg??)
YMH Flip up Front Sight

can you send a pic so I have an idea what this will end up looking like.

THANKS!!! 5ptstar

Glad to hear your ordering a middy! Both of mine are on BO. 12-16 weeks. Def will post pics when they arrive. Decided to go with the regular YMH railed hand guard. Seems to me with the lightweight its possible to break a knob. The rails seem more durable. Sure the quality is excellent in either, want the reassurance of durability.

Seen pics of 16 middy builds on here in this forum & general AR forum.

Went with the standard iron front sight to use the front sight to instantly zero the scope. Buddy uses his for patrol/sniper & its sweet! Probably wont be installing an IR laser like he has though :)

Good luck! Del-Ton customer service is great! If you email, it might take a while for them to get back to you. With an order 12-16 weeks out. Whats a week or 2 to respond back?

Next build will be a 11.5 or 20? Leaning towards the 20.
