Hello all,

I'm assembling my third lower and I think the Disconnector Spring is too long.  The LPK
is a Stag, the lower is a Spikes Tactical. I have compared the Stag kit to a ArmaLite kit
that I have, and the Stag Disconnector spring is 1 1/2 coils longer.  I have identified
the springs correctly, and here's a picture of the two.

L-R: Stag Bolt Catch, Stag Disconnector, ArmaLite Disconnector, ArmaLite Bolt Catch

Should I cut a coil off of the Stag spring, or just order a new one? When I function
check, the hammer is not catching the disconnector, and I have trigger slap.

Thanks,

Try trimming it, if that doesnt seem reliable or satisfactory jsut grab a new spring. ( your pics are not working)

MrM4,

Thank you for the reply and pic notice.  It should be fixed now.
I'm going to the range tomorrow, and I wanted to get this kit together
for some testing.  I'll try cutting a coil off and see what happens.

Thanks again,

It looks like the shorter one has thicker coils than the longer one, so they may be about the same strength.

Did you install it and perform a safety check? It looks like it would work just fine.

Different kits are made by different companies and there will be small differences.

Edit: I missed the last two lines of your post.

The poster below has the same question I would have asked.

did you install it with the wide end down? it looks like a tapered spring and will bind if put in upside down.

Thanks for the replies,

I installed the spring with the wide end down, and function checked it.
That's when I noticed the trigger slap due to the disconnector not moving
to engage the hammer.

After a little play, I was able to squish the spring enough that the rifle
function checked perfectly.  I didn't cut the spring.  It just took some break-in
to work.

Thanks,  kbailey3
