I have a few weapons I would like to send out to have the barrels threaded so that I can eventually use a suppressor on them. I thought about posting this in the suppressor forum, but figured you DIY guys would know of a few reputable places. I live in Indiana, but close is not nearly as important to me as competent/reputable. If it helps here's a list: Ruger 10/22 stainless (standard barrel - not heavy barrel) Bushmaster Varminter (fluted, but not 5/8" of the tip) Savage .30-06 bolt action (stainless - not heavy barrel) Will likely just use a thread protector until suppressors are purchase. |

ADCO charges $65.00 for the threading pluss $4.00 for shipping. Evidently they do not disassemble or reassemble complete uppers. I would have to do that myself. I don't have the tools. Doesn't one have to check head spacing when removing/replacing a barrel? I will get the tools, but I was hoping to just send out the upper allong with the other barrels. The place I listed earlier ar15barrels.com does. They disassemble, thread, and reassemble for a cool and even $60.00 $30.00 just for threading a barrel. Anyone ever use ar15barrels.com ? |
No, not really, unless you are using a used bolt that was not mated with the barrel. If it's the same barrell and bolt, and you are just removing it for threading, then no, you don't need to use a guage as long as the bolt goes into battery. |
Randall apparantly does good work but you risk not seeing your parts for a year. You will not be dissapointed with ADCOs quality or service. |
