Used to be the place to get parts kits years ago... Is their stuff now crap? What happened? |
|
I actually read a few VERY OLD posts online that said M1S had problems. I have also read that they have increased quality since then (if the old posts were correct to begin with). I somewhat recently purchased a M1S AR Pistol upper and a 'lower parts kit' through them and everything seems to be top notch … at least to me. No problems so far. I WILL purchase through Model 1 Sales again. |
I am glad to hear they have increased QA. I had several bad parts from them ...3 times in a row. |
Can I ask which parts were bad and what was wrong with them and when Just curious since I plan to order some more parts from them for an SBR upper project. |
|
Four of my seven ARs were built w/ M1S parts. I have NEVER had a problem with the company or it's products. Last fall I attended a Carbine Course where only 6 of the 20 attendees did not have any kind of a malfuction. My Model 1 rifle was one of those 6. I will be building again w/ M1S. |
| I've ordered several times from them, with no major problems, although, my last order about a month ago, ordered a complete kit, received only to find out that no lower receiver parts. Emailed them, had to missing parts in a couple of days, good. Then as I was putting the lower together, several parts missing like the mag catch, and spring, and also, the front take down pin would not work, would not slide all the way in, bad part, not cut correct. Pulled out my spare parts box, got it going. At the Creek, restocked with DPMS stuff. |
Read something quite awhile ago about how the quality and service had gone to shit. Just like Ammoman used to be the guy to go to for ammo...then he ripped a guy off and his CS turned to crap. |
| I assembled a M1S kit for a friend a few days ago and had problems with the pivot detent spring also..too long. Had to trim a few coils from it. The roll pin for trigger guard too big, found another and used it. Disco spring seemed too long also and the trigger wouldn't reset without pushing forward on the trigger, had to compress it several times to make it work and still not as reliable as I would like to see. I may have to change it out for him when he gets another. The disco looked to be stamped instead of machined. The upper/bbl assy was nice but I think I would buy a different LPK if I were to buy a M1S kit. |
is that the hole story? looks like it. |
Pretty much. Ordered it like that (as part of a kit). Cycled the action a few dozen times. Bent charging handle. Didn't even get a chance to shoot it before that happened. |
|
I had two uppers that were complete shit, one wouldn't get through a mag until after many chamber polishing and a new BCG. The second the FSP pins were not installed. That was a shock. I would not buy from them unless it was a part branded from someone else that required no assembly (by them) |
| Never bought from them so I have no opinion on their quality, but I do know the owner is a cheating, lying bitch who sent her (now ex-)husband to shows while she screwed guys back home. I know this because he spent a while on my neighbors couch trying to get back on his feet, after he walked in on her and left she took everything he owned. I know the question was about quality of their parts, but the quality of their owner should reflect in someones decision to buy from them. |
M1S is in Texas about 30 miles from my house. You are in AZ. How do you know the owner again? |
| I'm sure I will get flamed for saying this but you can't blame a kit entirely for not functioning. I regularly build Blackthornes (Vulcan) and can attest to the problems I have had, but every single one ends up working and I have not had a single one come back (I help people build their own ARs for free to encourage AR ownership). Maybe this is the AK builder in me, but builds need to be trouble shot and problems identified and fixed. Even the highest priced kit is perfectly capable of having problems. The question is what happens when things are out of spec. That's where customer service comes in. |
|
Well Model 1 is big enough that if there's a problem I don't think they bother arguing, but not everyone wants a chance to show off their trouble shooting and fabricating skills. |
