Ok guys i just bought a MEGA upper, and a RRA lower. I put it all together, and now a need a complete bolt assembly... Can you guys reccomend one for me, and where I can buy it?

BTW im a total newb when it comes to Ar-15s, and this is my first build. Where exactly does the charging handle go? does it come with the bolt assembly?

Thanks for any help, i really need it

The charging handle goes in the UPPER reciever and normally you buy the Charging handle seperately from the BCG (bolt carrier group)

so your saying the guides on here arent good to follow? thats what im going to  do when i get the parts in... I already assembled a stripped lower from the guides on here, so i think im doing pretty good. Dont make fun of me for trying to learn how to build the weapon, i wasnt born with the knowlege

Hey die-tryin, what's your deal? 95% of the people on the board recommend to people everyday to "Build instead of buying"... so when a member try's to build his first AR w/o even owning one previously, I think that deserves a pat on the back, not somebody jumping down his throat. So instead, why don't you try to answer his question.

3000, first of all... Good luck with your build.

Charging handle you'll buy separately, which run about $20. The bolt carrier group will run you about $120-$130 for a basic BCG without any upgrades.

I buy most of my parts from BravoCompany, but they do not ship outside of the US.

Buy this: BravoCompanyUSA Bolt Carrier Group

and to familiarize yourself, watch this: AR15 Field Strip

...and these:
Assembling an AR15 lower (part 1 of 2)
Assembling an AR15 lower (part 2 of 2)

ETA:  also, check out the tacked threads at the top of the AR-15 forums (AR Discussions, Build it Yourself, etc) and the instruction manuals here:  AR15.com information library  (AKA, RTFM  )

Cool, Kudos to you building your first AR-15. I bought my first, then decided to build the next 2.

My latest build(still building) has a CMT BCG(Bolt Carrier Group) that I bought from Bravocompany - as recommended by prior posts. Also, the build it yourself guides here on AR15.com - are great! follow them and you can't go wrong. Good luck.

one more question, for you guys.... on the above recommended bolt carrier group, it says it is AUTO... does that mean it will make my gun full auto? if so i dont know that i want that? this is probally a stupid question lol

An auto Bolt Carrier Group will not make the rifle Fully Automatic. A full auto bolt it machined differently on the bottom to allow it to work with a F/A trigger group. It will work fine in a semi-auto rifle. A lot of guys in my area seem to think that F/A bolt runs better in there guns. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions, thats how I learned. Oh, the charging handle slides into a machined groove at the top of the upper receiver where the bolt slides in. You will take the charge handle and start sliding it in from the rear. There is a recess machined a few inched back, the handle will raise up into that slot. Then insert the bolt and push the bolt forward. you'll be good to go.

how do you guys feel about the complete bolt assembly from LaRue? its at the same price, and i have to order some parts off of their website anyway

order from LaRue with no worries. Also, I don't see how die-trying was making fun of anyone
of course maybe I'm too thick to see it. I haven't built one yet, but from reading here I can tell you some things I've read about often.

Be careful with all the springs. It seems the smaller they are the more likely they are to launch themselves or other parts and be lost. Extra small parts are always good to have.

Be careful with the trigger guard, make sure its supported well, people break the ears off all the time.

And last but not least check and double check the orientation of the trigger spring.
