New guy here........ the AR series have changed a LOT since I was into them.......       I have a Bushie carbine that was built during the infamous Democrat Ban. This weapon is mounted with a buttstock of the newer A-2 length. I wish to replace this with an A-1 style collapsable OR a shorter A1 butt. There are a lot of A1 butts available used. I have seen no A-1 style collapsables for sale. Two Questions:
Will the 5/8ths shorter m16 solid stock fit over the recoil tube of the Bushie? Will a collapsable fit over the present Bushie tube? OR.. do I need to get the whole tube and butt kit for either option to work?
Frankly I like the shorter M16 solid stock, am very used to it by now. So-So on the collapsable but if a good one will fit without changing the recoil tube, fine.
Likewise, will that longer cast-off Bushie carbine stock fit on an older AR15? I have an E.A. lower that came with a "sniper buttstock"- one of those hooked ones. The length is fine but rather have the Zytel style instead of the pebbled plastic and the hook is useless and dorky lookin.
What tools will I need to swap out these stocks? Many places advertise a small wrench of sorts for the job, will one of these get it?  Thanks in advance, I figger when you're talkin ARs ya come where the AR folks are.   Dun  [email protected]

an a-1 will fit. there is a spacer on the tube that you remove after you take off the a-2 buttstock. I think the a-1 requires a shorter screw, but that should come with the stock.

A collapsible stock will require a different tube, spring and buffer..

You don't need any special tools to swap an a-2 for an a-1, just a screwdriver

Yes, just a screwdriver to go from an A2 buttstock to an A1. IMPORTANT, if it has been a while since you worked on an AR be careful when you remove the A2 stock that you do not lose the spring and detent that is held in by the stock....<><....:)
