I'm putting together my first ar-10 (armalite lower & lpk) and am finding some notable differences. I thought that the grips were supposed to be identical to the ar-15 but the tango down grip I installed shows a 1/16" gap at the front edge and the selector spring hole clearly does not line up with hole in the lower. An additional twist is that the take down spring and detent is drilled from the bottom just like the selector hole (not from the back like my ar-15's) and is retained by the grip just like the selector spring. Has anyone else come across this?

as far as the gap & selector detent hole goes, no... (maybe your grip screw hole is off? you might want to check it against the blueprint).
but yes, that's the usual way for the takedown detent hole to be drilled.
