I must have missed this day of shop class. I could heat them up, but I'm afraid of damaging the temper. Maybe heat the end up with the rest of the spring under water?

I'm replacing the recoil spring in an old german .22. I've found a replacement, but I have to cut it and form the end.

There are some highly regarded smiths posting there who aren't full of themselves like on the 1911 boards.
