I installed a used barrel on a new upper.  the barrel was snug but did not line up for the gas tube.  If I moved it back, I did not have the proper torque.  When I got everything to line up, I was over the recomended foot pounds by an unknown amount.  My torque wrench only goes to 75 and I believe I'm over 80.  Now things line up great, am I ok with this set up?  I tried it around 75 and the gas tube rubbed on the carrier, now it seems good.  Will I have any problems with the extra foot pounds?

You are g2g.  I have not used a tourque wrench for any of my builds and have not had a problem yet. Gun goes bang, barrel ain't fallen off yet.

The bolt carrier moves easy now that the gas tube does not have extra pressure on it.  I'll try and get out to shoot on Sat.

Thanks foilhat.
