I am working on my first build and my Young Mfg Chrome BCG just came in the mail yesterday. I unboxed it and stripped it right away. The bolt is in the BCG TIGHTLY, it takes a good pull to get it out, and a good puch to get it back in. I dont know if this is normal, my only experience is with a SP1 bolt and BCG with LOTS of rounds through it. My SP1 bolt fits very loose and will drop in and out of the carrier freely. Will the new one loosen up or is it good that its really tight?

No one knows? almost 30 views and no one knows if the bolt is supposed to be tight in the BCG? I thought we all had these things so someone would know.

Based on what I've read, the bolt isn't really supposed to be loose enough to just fall out. there is supposed to be some minor resistance that will keep it from falling all the way out.

My Young  NM BCG holds the bolt pretty good as well. They are known to be very exacting with their tolerances. I wouldn't worry about it unless you get into a lot of jams that are hard to diagnose normally.

Ok thanks for the info. I guess my colt SP1 bolt is loose because it has so much wear and use.

I remember reading somewhere that the bolt should support the weight of the carrier when stood on the bolt face and if it doesn't the gas rings on the bolt should be replaced.

Lube it up and keep shooting.  Mine was tight but it's shot itself in.

+1 It's in the operator's manuals.  If the bolt will drop out of the carrier, you need to replace the rings.  That being said, I don't know about it being THAT tight.

+1 I will add that I could never get the firing pin retaining pin back in, had to use an old one

Yeah it took me about 10 minutes of trial and error to get it back in, apparently if you angel it up when you slide it towards the other side it works better.
