I'm looking to buy a rifle kit to build up and their prices seem really good. Just checking for any feedback on this company as I've never heard of them. Their contact emails are Yahoo and AOL addresses hinking.gif Anyone have any experience with them? Hoping it's not Hesse/Vulcan crap. I was pretty much set on a Del-Ton kit until I found AR15-Kits.com, they have a couple more features I want and the price is right. I'm willing to spend the extra money at Del-ton if AR15-kits.com is risky business. Thanks for any help |

Go with the Delton. I haven't dealt with them but I have a buddy who did. The kit went together without a problem and it turned out to be a good rifle. I haven't heard any complaints around here either. ETA - I've gotten to the point where I only buy from site sponsors. They generally take pretty good care of us. |

I dont have any experience with AR15kits either, but with the options that I got from DelTon, DelTon was still cheaper. I would also recommend DelTon since in a couple of thread where people have posted problems, DTI has posted responses and has offered to take care of them... Personally, I've had my DTI for two weeks now, and went yesterday to shoot, and it functioned flawlessly...except for operator aiming problems ...no FTF, FTE, stovepipes; just good 'ol fun!!

| I ordered a kit from AR15-kits.com on Monday, a 16" Carbine. It shipped out Tuesday. After checking out their site and talking with Terry there, a few times I felt comfortable with what they had to offer and the parts are all new US from the big names, so we'll see if any of it is BS. I thought $505 for the kit w / my options and color change on the furniture and shipped was fair. I checked out all the kit's listed here and went through a recent SGN as well as a few from last month just to be sure I wasn't missing a "great deal" somewhere. I wanted to avoid any "Hesse" products or companies even though I found what I wanted at Blackthorne. I'm doing my build on a DPMS lower. I'll give an update as soon as the part's get here. So here I am once again waiting for the "Brown Truck" !!! |
Hesse/Vulcan IS Blackthorne. Blackthorne is their new name since they change every few years in attempt to fool the public thinking they are not. |
Yep, knew that. That's why I said "avoid Hesse products and even though Blackthorne had what I wanted, I passed. |

i'm not sure about there online ordering, but i've bought parts from DTI at the shows many times ... i always make it a point to check out there tables, and they have always treated me right..from the advise to the fair prices. just my $0.02 ...which is only worth 1/2 a penny anymore hinking.gif |
| I am new to this site, but I wanted to let you know I ordered a 16" Car kit from Terry at AR15-kits.com and his shipping was quick. I made my order by phone. I received mine yesterday and put it together yesterday. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet but the fit and finish looks fine to me. The barrel bore looks good. I think Terry is a stand up guy. They had forgot to put one mag I had ordered with the kit in the box I called Terry and started to mention the mag issue. He interupted me to say he knew about the mag and it was already on its way. You can't ask for better service than that. His parts all come from companies I have seen good remarks on this forum. So with that said I think you will be fine and Happy with Terry and AR-15kits..com |
Same here, go with the Delton. I have helped a few fellow AL Arfcomers assemble DTI kits and everything was good to go. |

i just got done looking the site over really well, prices are good and seem to have a very good selection of kits. i've used J&T for years now and with great results, lots of guys have used Del-Ton and posted excellent results. i buy my parts from site sponsors here because i know that quality and customer service are very important to the venders on EE. please post about this kit company and builds so others can see what AR15-kits.com has to offer |
I did not clarify on my post. BLACKTHORNE! Do not order from THEM. Thanks AR. |
This guy is a shill. It's his website. |
What about the other guy with the 1st post glowing review? |
Why yes, that is interesting..... |
|
Welp, I am none of those people, but I want to bring another company in here. JSE Surplus - Carbine Kit - $450. I just built one last night for a friend and the quality was amazing. It uses some DPMS parts, I don't know how much of it is, but overall, the kit was NICE!! Mounted on a GSE lower, the fit, finish, and color matched like a gem! I highly recommend these to anyone who wants one. |

This is funny, I'm the OP and as I started to read the "good" comments about AR15-kits.com I was getting mad because I went ahead and ordered the Del-ton kit. Then I saw the AR15Rep handle and the wheels started to turn, Aimless proved my suspicions and now I couldn't feel better about my Del-ton purchase. Maybe if the "shill" had paid to become a site sponsor and been honest about who he was up front he would have gained some customers, ar15.com has some amazing and unique buyer/seller relationships and all may have benefited. Oh crap, after that comment and the fact that my first rifle is on order I guess I better pay up and become a team member myself.h.gif Almost forgot, I was very pleased with the phone service by Kassandra on Friday. She promised some VERY quick service. I was all ready to wait a month for the brown truck to show up, looks like I'll be at the range before next weekend!!! Stay tuned, pics and range report as soon as they happen. |
| Blackthorne's website is www.akpartskits.com and they sell their AR parts kits on there as well. I think www.ar15-kits.com is a different outfit and that's what the "shill" is saying. Can anyone confirm? |
| They are a different website and that was not the point. The point was that there were several people including someone affiliated with the company hyping them up without saying that they were part of the company, thus a shill. They may very well be an excellent company but the fact that they have to be dishonest to get sales isn't going in their favor. If they want to do advertising here on THE AR-15 website, they must pay to play. |
Excactly what I meant. In case you haven't noticed the members of arfcom are extremely fair, honest, loyal and smart people. DO NOT LIE TO THEM. You will be found out. Trust is a very hard thing to earn, if you've lost it before you've earned it as a business.......... |
| He (Terry @ AR15-kits)was $20 cheaper than J&T when I bought mine, and more than helpful with any upgrades or questions. Super nice / easy to deal with. The kit was complete, nothing missing and the fit and finish was excellent, but from what I've read "Double Star's" parts are pretty good. |
