I just started researching parts/pieces for my first AR build. I am ok with paying a little more for good quality and fit. So far I have looked at stripped lowers from DPMS, Stag, and Olympic, along with the parts kits. I figure I will star there, then work my way to the upper receiver and barrel. Does anyone have any recommendations one way or the other? Thanks, JD |

A Stag lower is fine. Stag LPK fits. I shop at Rainier Arms, but others sell them too. I recommend an LMT BCG, M16 (full auto style). Rainier also carries them. My thought is that the upper needs to match the barrel. If you buy a 20" barrel with an A2 front sight base (FSB), you will need an A2 upper. If you get a barrel with an F-marked FSB, you will need an A4 upper. If you get a barrel with M4 feed ramps, you will need an upper with feed ramps. Don't by the upper till you know what barrel you are getting. |

I'd recommend Spike's Tactical lowers. Spike's Tactical I recently ordered and built 2 lowers with RRA parts kits for each, one with a NM trigger. I'm very happy. I put a RRA DCM upper on the first, the second will be built with 2 uppers...one an M4 and the other a .22 LR. The parts kits and the upper from PK Firearms from the link at the top of this page. The fit and finish of the Spike's is very good and their customer service is excellent as well. HTH Bruce |
