Ok.. i purchased two AR kits which should be here within the next couple weeks.  However, i still have two lowers i need to do something with.  Now im not much on the tacticooooled out guns, but i pretty much found what i want to do with the remaining two.  Pics and specs are listed below(they are a memer's pm here USMC03 i think).  problem is, i am pretty sure that all the stuff listed is top dollar.  I would like to build them a little cheaper.
Questions:
1)can i just get 16"/18" mid-length upper with a 9" rail system or would something like this need to be pieced together?
2)which method is cheaper?
3)will the Tango Down covers only fit on certain rails?
4)what kind of rail system would provide the same capabilities/look and not be as expensive as the LaRue part?  most rail systems, with covers, seem to be a lot bulkier then this one.
5)will the two piece YHM rail be any good?
5)What is the advantage to having M4 feed ramps?

Plenty of places will put a rail on a midlength for you.  See ADCO Firearms or Del-ton just to name two.

2)which method is cheaper?

I have no idea.  I always build mine myself from pieces so I can get what I want and spread the cost out over time (and I enjoy building stuff).

3)will the Tango Down covers only fit on certain rails?

They should fit any rails.  They may be tighter on some rails and not so tight on others - I have never used them before.  I prefer the ladder-style, low-profile rail covers, and they fit the same on every rail I've used them on - tightly.

4)what kind of rail system would provide the same capabilities/look and not be as expensive as the LaRue part?  most rail systems, with covers, seem to be a lot bulkier then this one.

I like the Midwest Industries free floats.  They end up looking like the top rail is one, contiguous rail from end to end with the flat-top receiver.  I don't like the ones like the DD with an obvious barrel nut gap.

5)will the two piece YHM rail be any good?

Yes, but it won't be free float.  The MI rail I mentioned is two-piece, but it is a free float rail that clamps on the existing barrel nut.

5)What is the advantage to having M4 feed ramps?

You can use weak magazines and get more reliable chambering of rounds on full-auto.  They aren't really needed unless you plan to fire full-auto and won't be able to get new magazines for some reason.  If given the option for around the same price, I'd get them anyway, though.  Just make sure your upper receiver matches the ramps (standard or M4 extended), so you get the benefit of the ramps if the barrel has them and proper functioning
