Just finished building my first lower. M&P lower with RRA parts kit.  When the safety is turned on or off, there is a loud click.  I compared it to my factory built Bushmaster and it is quite a bit louder. Any suggestions?

I noticed mine does the same. I might try cutting a little off the spring.

I would actually prefer a good, solid click on some of my spongy-feeling selectors.

Honesty, I'd leave it alone.  Are you worried about someone hearing your selector clicks?

It'll wear in.  I actually prefer a somewhat sturdy click to the safety.

I plan on building a SPR that will double as a medium range varmint rifle.  I can only imagine how far that "click" sound would carry in the woods.  I will try and "break it in" and see if it gets any quieter.

I’ve loosened up a stiff safety by hitting the safety detent tip with a file. Just slightly rounding it out helps. Also apply a bit of CLP.

On safeties that are too loose I’ve done just the opposite by sharpening the detent tip, and in addition, drilling out and cleaning up the safety detent position on the safety it self.
