Anybody use them? They appear to be made with CMMG parts??? (yes I used the search button) ;) |

AWSOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! My bargin bin kit was delivered two days after I ordered it, to the wrong address, but it was delivered in two dayshock.gif. I emailed Marsha about the delivery problem that night, and she had replied via email and phone the next morning by 0630! She had also already talked to CMMG about shipping another kit to my house! Luckily, I have an honest neighbor (6 miles away!) who hand delivered the kit as I was leaving for work that same morning. He looked kinda scared handing it over to me, seeing as he... OPENED THE BOX! hainsawkill.gif My only problems that I saw with the kit were: the CAA carry handle(not a big fan of them), the barrel is 1/7 not 1/9 (a good thing IMHO), and the finish is a bit blemished in spots. But, it was a bargain bin kit and it still exceeds my expectations. I wouldnt hesitate to buy another kit from FFE. |

I bought their 16" M4 kit, and asked them to omit the buttstock, handguards, and sling. They were happy to comply and gave me a discount for the parts I didn't want. Although their website says all kits come as loose parts, the upper came fully assembled, headspaced, etc. This should have been a pleasant surprise, except that I'm installing a third-party free float tube and loose parts would have saved me the trouble of removing the FSB and the barrel. So far my only complaint is that the upper has been very hard to take apart. The flash hider was really tight, as was the FSB. I still haven't been able to break loose the barrel nut. Maybe this is a testament to CMMG's assembly quality, but it sure has me frustrated! |
You may need to heat up the barrel nut. Sometimes companies like to use red loctite to keep the barrel nut from moving. You'd need to get it up to 490ish degrees to melt the loctite. MJD |

Yes, CMMG lower, FFE caveman kit. http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n75/vafish/DSCN00891.jpg Had a slight problem with it. FSB was canted. I didn't notice it until after I had been shooting it a bit. Sighted it in first with scope on it. Less than 3/4" groups at 50 yards with some old mil surp 55 gr ammo. Put the carry handle on it and had to crank the rear sight all the way to the left to get it shooting right. Called up the place I bought it from, they contacted CMMG and said send it back they will fix it. So I boxed it up and mailed it back to them. About a week and a half later a whole new upper arrived at my door. That one works just fine. |

I just bought two 16" midlength kids. The upper and barrel are CMMG. Has feed ramps. Chamber is in spec. Not sure about the bolt and carrier, but I expect they are CMMG as well. Hand guards are CAA, as is the carry handle. Carry handle is not great, but it works. CMMG magazine. The 'sling' is a cheap POS nylon strap that I *might* put on my kid's BB gun. Parts kit appears to be DMPS. The uppers fit perfectly with my Stag lowers. The fit and finish are excellent. I haven't shot them yet, but I'm happy so far. I got mine through a special with CMMG because my order was delayed. $525 each. Can't beat that with a stick... Shane |
I tried heating the barrel nut, but no joy. Sent e-mail to FFE and got a response from Garson at CMMG. They do not use Loctite, and only use handtools to assemble. No heat should be needed. He offered to disassemble the upper for me, so I sent it back. CMMG turned around the job the day they got it and did not charge me. My cost was one-way ground shipping and a one-week project delay for round-trip ground shipping. Here's the finished build: http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk404/bucc5207/AR5.jpg I boresighted it at 50 yds, and it looked good with no adjustments. Shot 90 rounds at the range with decent accuracy, without touching the sight knobs. I'm very happy with FFE and will work with them again. Any problems I've had are due to my noobiness only. |
