[ARCHIVED THREAD] - First time builder

I'm wanting to build my own AR15, I have been around firearms for many years ,I can strip them clean them and put them back together no problem.My question is can you build one for less than a thousand dollars that is reliable? if so how and where is the best place to find the kits or parts to do this?If this question has been asked before my apologies, if there is a refrence to this question on this site where might I find it Thanks.

Read up here. Simple, and just as reliable if you can follow the directions.

Under $600 is normal, under $500 gets you admiration and golf claps.

Ive had good luck with J&T and Del Ton.

For $1000 you could build a rock solid reliable AR that would rival nearly any brand AR in quality, if not whiz-bang doodads...
