| Hey guys I need some help on my first build, so I want to put a 16" barrel on my colt upper what is a good barrel to use and will any 16" work or does it have to be a light or heavy barrel? Or should I ust replace the hole upper. Any information that anyone could give me would be great. |

I really like CMMG these days for standard barrels. The lightweight barrels are nice because it makes the whole weapon much lighter. The heavier profiles are better if you intend on doing a lot of rapid fire. But personally i like the lightweight barrels better in a semi auto weapon, and i leave my heavy barrels for full-auto use. If you don't have the tools and don't want to buy them then you can just get a whole new upper. But you can do it yourself if you are willing. |

I would suggest keeping your Colt upper whole. With that said if you are changing from a 20" barrel to a 16" you will need the following: 1.) 16" barrel with FSB/ gas block. Any profile will work, however bull barrels most often must be free floated. 2.) carbine length gas tube 3.) carbine length handguards 4.) armorer's wrench ($35) (or access to one) 5.) Bench vise (or access to one) 6.) upper action block ($35) (or access to one) 7.) High temp moly grease. You can re-use your delta ring assembly. Good Luck! - AG |
