I've got a C7 upper that as you know has a1 sights. I would like to remove the A1 aperture and replace it with an A2 aperture, but can't figure out how to get the A1 off of there. An A2 installation and removal is quite easy, though. Am I missing something?

There is a pin in the windage drum that needs to be punched out then you can use a screwdricer to unscrew the bolt that holds it in. Be careful not loose the spring and detent that is under the windage drum.

tried that, the pin would only come about halfway out. Then my punch grenaded on me.

Then you can just screw it until the pin breaks but you will have to order a new pin, screw and maybe drum. If you have a allen wrench small enough you can use that in place of a punch.
