Ok, at present, I have three of their uppers and their performance is everything I could want it to be.  Acouple of them exceeded my wildest dreams for an AR platform & made me kick myself for not getting one years ago.

However, I read a lot around here how people only use their BCs as a spare.  But no info explaining why (the search engine here really isn't the best).

Is there a major issue with M1S' BCs?  And can someone fully explain what the issue is?

Does this problem (if there actually is one) also apply to their bolts?  Or, any other parts?

Thanks in advance,
ML Gray

I had a Model 1 M4rgry kit a couple years back and after I sold it to another guy, the bolt cracked.  I fired maybe 100rounds or so through it.  Not sure how many he fired but it wasn't more than a couple hundred rounds at most.  He bought a new bolt and he's good now.

Oh, I had to send it back when I got it because the front sight base was canted.  I had to dial the rear sight almost completely to the right to get the shot group centered.  It still wasn't perfect when I got it back but it was better than before.

The bolt carriers are fine, aside from the staking on some of the gas keys. The bolts themselves are known for cracking around the cam pin hole. They'll replace the broken bolt, but why risk it?

They've had problems with triggers and bolt catches in the past too. They'll be happy to replace those parts too. But once again, why risk it?

Most of the uppers they kick out are of a good quality for the price and most shoot very well, but I'd look elsewhere for bolts and LRPKs.

Thanks man!

i appreciate the information.  I guess I'm just not as smart as most & a little explaining goes a long way in helping me understand.

So, the BCs are not the problem but the bolts are.  Looks like I'll be shopping for a couple of bolts & set the M1S ones back as spares just like everyone else.

Thanks for the help,
