| I'm about to order all the parts for my 1st AR but I am really struggling with either keeping the FSB on the RRA midlength upper or going with a low profile gas block and putting a Troy folding front sight on the LaRue handguard. Any thoughts? I know they will both work well, but I prefer a cleaner look and that tends to push me to a Troy folding. |

Nothing has been proven stronger than the original forged steel AR fixed FSB. If you plan to run an unmagnified optic or iron sights . . . accept no substitute. If the front sight will be in the way of a magnified optic, then choose a front folding sight and accept the disadvantages of strength loss, and a higher potential loss of zero. Just my $0.02 anyway . . . |
| I have several magnified optics that point straight at the FSB. The focal length is so long that I don't even see the FSB - not even a shadow. I go fixed FSB everytime, and I see no reason to do otherwise, unless you have an unmagnified optic that is really low and the FSB will be in the way. |
Well Said!, I have both. |
