It's been awhile since I built an AR. I heard CMMG was having some issues? I'm looking for a good MP tested 1/7 twist barrel, Noveske is a bit to steep for me though. Any recomendations?

How about complete uppers with a 1/7 twist barrel and a CMT upper receiver?

and what I went with recently, the WOA SPR 18" middie from ADCO.

Why the hell does everyone want 1:7??  You can't load a bullet mag length that takes advantage of this twist.  The only reason mil barrels are spec'd 1:7 are for long ass tracer projectiles......

If I'm not mistaken - isn't that barrel 1:7?

O.K. I am confused on this one.
wouldn't the reasoning for 1:7 twist be that you could shoot heavier lead?
do these heavier bullets not feed properly from mags?

GDS has Bushmaster barrel assemblies with 1/7 twists. I bought a lightweight barrel assembly and an M4 assembly for $245 each, shipped. You have to ask for the extra tall front sight post if you are putting it on a flat top receiver with a detachable carry handle. They are on the  equipment exchange or (512) 707-8353.  They ship super fast too.

Yes they feed fine. Mk 262 IS 77grain SMK bullets. 1/7 and 1/8 will shoot anything you can feed it BUT 90 grain JLK's. Thats a Camp Perry bullet, no need to use it, unless your going to Perry. 80 grain SMK have to be loaded with a S.L.E.D. in the mag. The only bullet that I know that CANNOT be fed out of the mag is a AMAX, Way too long. Take a look at what the barrel makers have to say.. They of all people know what is needed to make a bullet go where its pointed...........

You must be talking about the 75 and 80gr A-Max, cause the 52 grainers shoot great out of mine.

Sorry, my tone came off rather asshat-ish.  I just feel that many folks that haven't got a lot of reloading/barrel-bullet knowledge and experience can be mistakenly led to believe that they need a 1:7, and that the majority of VLD heavy bullets that really need a 1:7 can't be loaded mag length (ie-75Amax, Berger's, etc).

Yes my SPR barrel is 1:7, my point is that you don;t NEED a 1:7, 1:8 or 1:9 will shoot up 75gr BTHP's just fine.  My Service Rifle match upper is a 1:9 that I shoot Hornady 75BTHP's out of and I usually score in the mid 90's at 500 yards with nary a keyhole.

Just pointing out options, if one comes across a good deal on a 1:9 they shouldn't be scared that it won't shoot the heavier boolits.

I'm a little confused about the current rush on 1:7 barrels as well. Honestly, how many of us are potting hajji at 700yds with 80gr bullets? My AR's can certainly serve as defensive weapons should they have too, but their primary purpose is to plink, scare my liberal friends, and anti-groundhog operations. Honestly aside from competition i think this is what most civilians use their AR's for, and a heavy, expensive bullet is not optimal for any of these. Personally i thought it was a valid question, and detected no "ass hattery" in your tone.
