I am looking into acquiring/building a Homeland Defense weapon on the AR15 flavor. Will it be reasonable to request your AR build Recipes, suppliers and Costs? 7.62x39 .233 What would be the smallest budget to build a reliable unit $500, $700? Can a trunk Rifle be build under $500? Not great looking but, reliable and accurate. |

My AR total is 760 including 4 magazines. The only way to beat this is to work the gun shows and hog the guys time on a Friday until he caves in to get rid of you, which is what I did. Another alternative is to search the Equipment Exchange to find something used that fits your need. I watch for things on the EE and compare, you might find some good deals if you have done your homework and learned about every detail for a variety of parts. but forget my advice, I'm just a newbie. I did manage to get some good info out of a handful of dealers at the gun show. Some people consider a M4 barrel with free floating foregrip to make a cheap trunk gun. I think I can get similar results much cheaper. Your mileage may vary. |

Yeah you blew your $500 budget right out of the water. The cheapest build (usually) is a 20" government style rifle with either a flat top or carry handle (A1 or A2) upper. Model One, M&A, Del-Ton, FireForEffect, and several others can sell you a KISS kit in the $460 range. A good lower can be had for under $100. If you wanna surf the EE you could beat $500 on a good used parts build though. Just get in there and keep refreshing the page. Any good deals that come up are usually gone in seconds! ETA: if you are adventurous, you can get a Blackthorne kit. Their KISS kits range from $360 to $400, so they would allow you to keep under that magic $500 number. I have read some negative reviews of their stuff though, so buy at your own risk. My standard advice is they are a good kit for an experienced builder who just wants a truck rifle or a tinkering project, so that if you do have problems you will be better able to figure them out and correct them. |
