I had a few questions, if they are repetitive I apologize. The search option is limited to 7 days and I could not find anything. Basically I was wondering if for instance I was to buy a complete upper, a bolt, and built up a stripped lower would I have any forseable headspace issues. Also what is the difference between a m16 bolt and a regular bolt I ask because del-ton sells both, and I am trying to figure wich one I need. Thanks in advance. |

No headspace issue. And the M16 carrier is a bit heavier. Check here for pics of the difference. |
A "complete upper" by definition usually includes the bolt carrier group and charging handle, but you need to shop with care. Generally if the price seems a bit low, it probalby doesn't include the BC/CH. You should not have headspace issues using a new bolt and new barrel, even if you didn't buy them together. The AR15/M16 platform is designed to be modular and interchangeable. The only issue might be with a new bolt and a very old and worn barrel extension or vice versa... I prefer the M16 bolt carrier because I hear it is heavier, and should smooth up the operation of the rifle, especially in a carbine-length gas system. Either will work though. The only thing you need to be aware of is M16 firing pins will not work in an AR15 carrier. AR carriers will work in an M16 carrier though... I would get either one and not worry about it. |
