I have a one peice YHM free float rail that I would like to remove. Can I find directions on how to do that anywhere? Can it be done without removing the barrel? Thanks in advance.

You have to remove the FH first, then punch the pins on the FSB (if you have one) and slide off over barrel. Use CLP to prevents scratches.

Loosen the FF tube and slide off over end of barrel.

Don't forget to loosen the jam nut and the two anti ratation screws, if so equiped.  If you don't have the YHM wrench to loosen the jam nut, use a piece of hardwood and a tap tap (hammer).

You can use a rubber strap wrench or a free float tube wrench.  You can get the strap wrench at homedepot or a auto parts place.  The free float wrench can be found at Brownwlls, DPMS, or Midway.  Make sure that you have a block and vise.  Don't try to use the floor, you will bugger it up.
I just took one off and put one on.  I had to wait for the right tools to come in the mail...  Good luck!
