[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Removing Handguards

I have a top end from Model 1 with a YHM Free floating handGuard. I cannot remove it. Is thier some trick to this. I unscrewed the small screws and tryed to unscrew the handguard it self but it would not budge. Is this a right hand thread or a standard thread? Any help would be great.

Probably have to loosen the lock ring between the upper and the tube. If you don't have the proper wrench you can use a flat head screwdriver with some black electric tape over the end and bump it loose with a hammer, so I've heard.

or a strap wrench......

FWIW - a sidetrip internet wise to the YHM site might be helpful in teaching the OP what and how to remove and install the YHM product he's got......
