I read the article on swapping one barrel for another and what i am taking from it is the headspace is set from the factory on each particular barrel. What i am wanting to do is swap barrels between UPPERS on 2 different rifles, Will i run into a head space problem here? I assume not but i thought i had better ask the experts..

Also does anyone know a good source fore a complete A1 Upper without the barrel? Just the sights and ejection door installed. Old Style without the shell deflector?  Russ

Head space is set by the barrel  manufacturer when the barrel extension is attached to the barrel.  So the barrel assembly can be moved from one upper to another without concern about head space.

That said, you can still get a "bad" barrel assembly that has incorrect head space.  But if you have a proven barrel that you know works well, you can just swap it around as you please.

Thats what i was thinking but i wanted to be sure. I need to buy an old A1 upper to complete my project i am working on.. DPMS has them for $199 but they have a shell deflector, i dont think the old Veitmam style C.A.R. pencil barrels had that.. Russ

As long as you swap barrel and bolt, the headspace will remain the same.  To remove any doubt of safety when swapping just the barrel, use a gauge to check.

The act of installing or removing a barrel has no effect, I say again, NO effect on headspace.

Just keep the bolt matched with the barrel it is currently used with.
