I'll be putting a Troy MRF-C on a LMT upper and I know that you cut the delta ring off but what is the concensus on cutting of the handguard cap too?

It's not necessary but you can if you want. The gap between the rail and FSB will be a bit larger than normal if you do.

I would leave it on unless you have a reason to pull the FSB off. Its not worth the risk of damaging the barrel trying to cut it off IMO.
