Hiya Folks,
Well I've just ordered what I believe to be all of the parts needed for my first build.   I decided to go with a complete upper for this one and may get a bit more adventurous on my next build (there will be a second, right?) by doing all the upper components myself.   Anyway, here's what I have on order:
Mega Lower - Stripped
Lower Parts kit less trigger (with grip)
WOA 2 - stage tuned trigger
BCG from Bravo Company
Rear BUIS- Troy
Rear Butt Stock- 6 position
Sabre Defense 16", Mid-length upper with barrel, receiver, standard hand guard. charging handle, forward assist, ejection port cover. front F site with gas block/tube.

Is there anything I missed (ie. small parts that are not part of the LPK, etc...?)?   I still need to purchase my tools and am starting to get a list together for that (ie. castle nut wrench, roll pin punches, clamping block come to mine offhand).    Thanks very much for the inputs.
Cheers,
cc

looks good

magazines
sling and mount
case
ammo

that's all you need to get shooting...

depending on what your intended use is, a red dot (aimpoint, eotech) or low fixed/variable power scope (ACOG/Short Dot/NF NXS1-4) would be a "NICE TO HAVE"...

The one thing you need is "knowledge"

use the build section videos on assembling the lower.

I will add 1 thing.  what I found that works the best for protection the lower from scratches is two thick zip-lock bags and electrical tape.

wrap the bags around the lower only exposing the place you need the pin to go in, tape it tight and out of the way.  You will need about of 10 bags. two for the lower and the others to keep the LPK parts safe.  To safely drive the "bolt catch" pin use a 6" 3/8 socket extension as a pin punch.  the flat end (where a socket would go) will flush drive the pin and the round extention bar will slide across the bag.  it will be long enough to allow you to hammer the extention without risking a hit/ scratch to the lower.

pay close attention to the springs...esp the disconnector spring.

Parts, Parts, Parts, and more Parts.

The rifle will be a $1000 paperweight  if'n you lose a 50 cent spring.

Stock up on spare pins, springs, extractors etc.  At the very least it will save you from having to find the parts and re-order at a higher price on down the line.

If......they are available down the line.

Hal

Thanks folks.   A couple of responses from me:

Yes, a scope or red dot would be nice....will probably have to wait a while only cause I just spent a fortune on this!  But yes, I agree....nice to have.

Knowledge?   Heck ya, I definitely need that.   That was one of the reasons for going with a completed upper....sort of get my feet wet without jumping into the deep end all at once.   I have a gunsmith that I intend to take the completed weapon to for his checkout to make sure I didn't screw anything up.    I have printed the build suggestions in the sticky and have been watching various videos on the subject as well.    Oh, and I got Kuleck's "Complete Assembly Guide for the AR15" as well.

And yes, it's the little parts I worry about.  I would really hate to have it all ready only to find I'm missing a single part that I'll have to overpay for and wait 2 weeks to get.
I'm still trying to get ammo but I can get enough locally to get me started.

Anyway guys, thanks much!   I'm lookin' forward to this!
Cheers,
