Which kit would you suggest for my first AR:

www.del-ton.com/Rifle_Kit_p/rkt104.htm

OR

www.del-ton.com/Rifle_Kit_p/rkt100.htm

Also what upgrades would you get, chromed barrel, RRA 2 stage trigger, handguard, etc.... I have a laser and a light already, thats why I asked about the handguard. I am new to AR's but the only thing I noticed different about the two was one is M4 and the other is a heavy barrel.
Any suggestions are welcome, if you don't like the Del-Ton. I was also planning to get a lower at a gun show or something.

Thanks for the help, greenhead

I would get the M4 kit just for weight. I have a RRA tactical car and which is was just a little lighter. (ordered before they came out with lighter barrels.)  I also ordered a Delton ultra light kit during their black Friday sale. Great service, quality and shipping is fast. My LPK was missing the take down detents but they shipped them and extra springs right to me for free.  Yes, chrome lined for easier cleaning and longer barrel life. The RRA 2 stage trigger would be a good investment also for this of the next AR that YOU will build.

the M4 kit comes with a complete upper and the heavy barrel kit needs to be assembled. For a first you might want to get the M4 with the 4 rail to make it future proof. Chrome lining is nice, but you sacrifice a little accuracy, so if you want to do some real high quality paper punching with it then you probably want to skip it. I love the RRA 2 stage, I'm gonna replace my old single stage standard triggers with 'em, well worth the price!

ETA: Welcome to ARFCOM!!

What kind of accuracy can you get from the M4 AR. Also what is the effective range with the rifle. I had a guy tell me that he could shoot 800 yards with his 16'' Bushmaster, is this possible?

I have the standard kit that you were looking at, non-chrome lined barrel, YHM free float lightweight hand guard (Mid-Length), Low-Pro gas block and the standard A2 stock, with a ERGO sure grip.

Don't believe that the HBar will be too heavy....guys on this site blow so much smoke up everyone's ass about that.  I could see if it was a long barrel but it's only 16".... people need to start lifting weights or something.

I've had so many people tell me how light and balanced mine is.  If you've carried any hunting rifle or shotgun you will think the same.  If you like the styling of the M4 barrel better then spend the extra $10.

Del-Ton was very helpful in choosing options and the shipping was quick.  Gun shoots like a dream.

If you have any questions shoot me an email.

I plan on putting a scope or eotech on the M4 and so do I need to have the front A2 sight. I don't think I want it and was wondering if I did not get it, what should I get to replace it. I want to get the handguard: YHM 4 rail Light weight FF tube, will this be good for mounting things on it, flashlight, laser, pistol grip?

So if I don't get the A2 front sight gas block, what should I get? What would look good with the handguard?

Sorry for the probably obvious questions but I am new to the AR.

One more question, is the DTI stripped lower for $95 a good buy or are there better deals to be had?

I was at the Charlotte Marketplace Gun Show this past weekend and had the pleasure of speaking with Del-Ton and seeing all their products.  I personally like their lowers MUCH better then the Double Star I just purchased.  I'll be buying 2 more from them in the near future.  Not to mention he sat there and explained a few things to help me on my next build....Nice guy....super customer service....spending my money with Del-Ton.
