I'm looking to build an AR for my sons graduation present, which lower is the nicest one made, as far as finish? Thanks for your information. |

Coleman Tyler made by Mega Machine Shop and has the front mag well gator grip, very nice finish. For a gift what could stress the point more than a "Freedom" marked lower? JMO. Cav Aid 08' would also be a good cause. |

If you are looking for a cool gift...even though an AR is already a cool gift for your son...I would say go with Anvil Arms and get it laser engraved for free! I have been looking into getting one for my son (he has many years to go before he is even old enough to shoot) but the point is, for a gift how can you go wrong with an AR and be able to have it laser engraved with just about anything that is personal for you/son! (his graduation date, cool graphic of some sort etc...). They are only $100 (with free engraving!) Check out this link for examples. Anvil Arms |

Well it all depends on how much you want to spend if you want the nicest finish available go billet but a billet reciever will likely be 2-3x as much as a standard forged reciever I plan on getting one of these soon, not sure which yet. POF billet lower: $325 SMOS billet lower: $300-$350 ![]() If you dont want to spend that much I would go with either Anvil arms or Spikes tactical Anvil arms on sale for $100: Anvil stripped lower Stikes tactical $115: Spikes tactical stripped lower |
You know you don't have to spend that much more for a billet lower, right? Sun Devils are about $150 and looks just as good as a POF. |
I wonder why Sun Devils and POFs look so similar :D To the OP, it depends on the upper you get. If it were my buying the gift, I would match the upper to the lower so it would have a complete rifle look. If the upper is RRA, get an RRA lower, LMT? LMT Lower! ETC. People are on the opposite sides of the spectrum here, telling you either $400 POF , or a $115 Spikes tactical :D |
That's what I'm doing for my gift build. Unfortunately, the gift will have to wait until BATFE makes up their damned [collective] minds. I don't think those minds will be made up before the OP's graduation gift deadline. With that, I ask a question of the OP: How *much* of a graduation gift are you wanting to give him? |
