Though this is my first post, I've been lurking for nearly a year and learned a bunch.  I have just rcvd my order of lowers and ready to start my first build.  Need some advice.  I'm wanting a "coyote carry" rifle.  I own a RRA 18" Varmint EOP and it's just too heavy to be totin' around on snowshoes.  I want a 1.5MOA rifle out to 300yds that weighs in under 7.5#.  Here's what I'm thinking, any input/advice greatly appreciated.

Superior Lower
RRA LPK
RRA NM 2 Stage Trigger
Hogue Grip
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
J&T Expedition Upper w/ NM FF tube or 2pc YHM 4rail

Keep in mind, this will be strictly my "calling rifle", once broke in, it'll see MAYBE 50rds a year.

I need input on this upper.  Accuracy, weight etc.

You should post more often, cause you do seem to know what you want, what you want it to do, what you want it to weigh etc.

A "coyote calling carry rifle" huh?  16"?  It all sounds GTG.  You didn't spec a stock, so I'll say 4 to 6 pos adjustable, to keep down weight and allow for wearing a coat / bulky warm clothing.

Go with a flip-up front and rear sights to also hold down weight.  If it's going to be riding over snow shoes, then you'll probably want to spray patches of it white for winter camo, or tie-on white rags.

Carry a back-up pistol - "better to have and not need..."

You said frames (plural) what's planned on the 3rd one?

Good Luck, hunt safe, post pics.

Chris,

I've got the lower assembled.  6pos stock and hogue overmolded FF tube on order.  Would love to hear some first hand experience on the Expedition barrel from J&T.  I'm almost set on a EOP style upper and a 3-9X40 Burris FF II w/ BPlex.  I know my loads on that reticle its a great predator hunting scope.

I wanting to build a 450 BM or possibly 300 Whisper for short range/brush black bear.  And someday a .204 and then maybe a 6X45  and a 243wssm and.......you know the sickness.

No experience with J&T Expedition - I'm a Bushmaster / RRA guy myself.  I'd recommend RRA's 16" flattop mid-length gas 1-8 stainless match upper and a LaRue SPR scope ring-mount.

Save room in the safe for a 6.8 SPC instead of the .204.
