I have a colt AR15 with the large front pin, I am going to change the upper and have purchased the http://blackrifleworks.com/colt-items-c-63.html?osCsid=d29172f4abf86a4db82093c9ecd986e4 will the pin cause any wobble in the upper reciever or will the upper have accurarcy problems. If anyone else has done this conversion please let me know how it worked out for you.. I hope I am posting this in the right forum, if I am wrong please let me know and I am very sorry if I am, in advancehinking.gif TY Jeremy |

First of all, welcome to the site. If the pin is well made (symmetrical) your upper and lower will be tightly joined. In fact, this conversion pin is one of the easiest ways to get a tight upper to lower fit. Just rotate the pin to cam the halves together a little tighter if the fit is loose. Perfect. Even if the upper-lower fit was loose, it wouldn't affect accuracy one bit. The barrel, upper receiver and sights are all rock solidly connected. |
| I have used a large hole (colt) lower I sometimes use with a small pin upper using a bushmaster offset pin. you shouldn't have any problem with slop on this setup. My observation using this setup is when you tilt the rifle open, it may not close again without turning the offset pin slightly. If you have slop at the rear, get the accu- wedge. |
I don't know why it is offset, perhaps to allow you to adjust the fit. You can't open and close the upper and lower quite as quickly as you would with other brands of guns as you have to adjust the pin. My issues were related to consistently warped offset pins. Damn upper would rock side to side as I rotated the offset pin (as if the pin were bent) instead of just back and forth as it should. |

Well, I'm a bit lare w/this response, but bumping the thing may be of use to someone. The pin is offset because the centers of the large and small holes are not in the same point on the lug. In other words, it needs to be offset to allow the two pieces to fit. Re the conversion pins themselves, the OPNLY pin that will allow you to open and close the thing without having to drag out two screwdrivers and reposition the thing is the piece sold by CDNN Investmemts (www.cdnninvestments.com. All the others will drive you nuts
