Stag is a great rifle and hard to beat for the price, IMHO. If you want to build a rifle do not do it because of price. Do it because you want the satisfaction of putting it together for yourself. If you look around the EE and other sites you can find some great deals. I have heard good things about Anvil Arms lowers, and I will be buying one soon.

Good luck,

You can build cheaper, cause buying a complete rifle, or just a completed lower means you are paying the excise tax on the whole thing, as opposed to just a stripped lower.

You can find most parts on EE for a very good price.  If you don't have the tools, you'll spend around $60 to $80 for a barrel wrench, receiver block, hammer, punches and the like.

For example:

Stripped lower + transfer fee= $170
Lower parts kit                    =  $70     (RRA kit thru PKfirearms)
Complete M4 type stock       = $42      (generic thru Pkfirearms)
Misc shipping cost                = $20

Total =  $302.00 for a basic lower.

You could save a lot more if you pick your parts carefully through EE.  Building a lower for less than $250.00 is easily done.

for your first rifle - just buy one and shoot it, clean it, and find out what makes it tick.  Then build your 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th 6 + and then you will know the sickness.
