Hi,

I'm pretty new to the custom AR build game and I was wondering if you guys could help me. I want to build a 5.56 AR15 with the Mega Gator lower, Magpul CTR stock, Magpul MIAD grip kit, Magpul Triggerguard and that's about as far as I got before getting confused. I want to build a recon style AR, one simular to this:

Sorry for jacking the photo from one of the picture threads..

I don't know anything about the upper half of the beast and was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction. Also don't know what lower internals such as triggers to use. Thanks for all the help!

There's certainly enough options, much depends on how much you are willing to spend.

It would help to provide your specific questions about the upper so that others can comment.

As it stands, it's difficult to jump in.

I.E.

Barrel length, carbine or midlength, thoughts on sights, free float questions, suppressor questions, BCG's etc, etc..

I understand. I wanted a 16" carbine barrel. Looking for a moderate powered scope, nothing too big. Money is not really a big option, but the cheaper the better. I can sacrifice some green for quality, but don't need the Ferrari equivalent of any part.

This question may be better served in the AR Discussions forum, or the Rifles, Uppers, Lowers, Barrels, and more forum.

They have pinned picture threads so you can see what others have done.

I have to admit being a "Keep It Simple Stupid" sort!!

Thanks a lot, bro. Usually I'll just search, but this site has so many sub-forums it's kinda hard to know where to search. Plus, I'm new to AR15s so it's hard. Thanks again!
