Hi all, I am pretty new to this site and the AR platform. I have a DPMS Pather Lite in 5.56. and I ordered a DPMS LR308 and will be getting it on Friday. I am getting a Magpul PRS for it and was curious how to remove the factory stock and install the PRS. Someone told me that you need a "Special" Wrench. Is that true?? Also getting a new grip and bipod. Any tips on installs would be great. Thanks For any help guy and I cant wait to join the ranks. Thanks

I hope you ordered the PRS for the 308?  The regular PRS will not allow the charging handle to come all the way back if you have the cheek riser elevated.  The AR10 requires a longer distance to the cheek piece than an AR15 does.

Easy install!!

No "special" tools unless you have a "carbine" style stock on it now.

Bi-pod, Harris and you will need to have a place to mount it.  FF rail or?  You need a sling stud to attach pod.

If you change the pistol grip, beware that there is a spring and detent that extends down to the grip.  When taking off the grip keep yours eyes open for the spring.  Don't lose it!

Have fun and good luck!!

as far as the grips its just a bolt in the top of the grip (inside the grip) that go's into the lower reciever. unbolt it and put new grip on and put new bolt in and tighten. (use lock tite blue)

the stock is removed from the rear. remove the recoil pad or plate with the two small screws. the upper of the screws is what I believe hold the stock in place. then slide the stock off the spring tube. open up the upper reciver from the lower and push the buffer the back. now push the buffer retainer pin yes that little guy looking up at you down and pull the buffer and spring out. now unscrew the buffer spring tube from the lower reciever.

I dont have personal experiance with the the magpul but I'm sure install is simply remove; reversed
I'm no expert but I've replaced all my own parts on my AR you can do it to

You said to remove the buffer tube, does this mean that I need a different tube with the new stock. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.
