Hi all,

Noob here, with what might be a noob question. But is the bolt dependant upon the choosen caliber?

Let me explain, I'm building an AR, more like three over the nest few months, two will be 5.56, one for myself on for my dad, the third I'm thinking of doing in 7.62X39 as a plinker for myself and my son. Do I need to buy a bolt, carriage, and charge handle that is specfic to the caliber?

7.62x39 has a larger case diameter, so I would say yes for the bolt. I dont know about the carrier or charging handle.

all you need that is caliber specific is the bolt (and the barrel of course).  Note that getting 7.62x39 MAGAZINES that work is well, near impossible ...
