Still searching for an upper or parts for an upper on my first build job.  I've never heard of Model 1 sales, but they have good prices.  Anyone do business with them???  Good, Bad, Ugly?  I'm looking at the 24" bull barrels, this will be primarily a bench gun.

i've had a 16" bull kit from them for quite some time.  i'm very satisfied.  and just today, i recieved the parts for my "poor man's tacticool ban compliant upper"  i'm happy with those as well

I do business with the frequently.

In fact, earlier today I purchased a couple front sight bases and small parts.

They always deliver in a timely manner and i've never had a problem with them.

Also purchased a barrel from them and it runs great.

I got my upper from them. I didnt use one of their bolts tho. The BCA is the only thing Id recommend buying some place else.

I've bought from them for years, had a couple of problems (missing/wrong parts), but always (and at their expense) fixed.  I'm happy with them.

Used them a couple of times recently and no complaints.

I've built one of their kits.  The gas block was canted, but easily fixed w/ the proper tools.  The LPK was crap.  Rough parts & just slightly "off".  Never had a problem w/ any of my other LPKs.  From my experience I'd say the uppers are ok, but I would stay away from the lower parts.  I have also heard rumors their bolts are more fragile, but haven't verified it.

I have built several from them and from my perspective their kits are as good in quality as some more expensive ones.  No returns or complaints and all parts have been to spec (unlike other "affordable" places).  I own a M4gery as a professional courtesy (from another "more affordable" place) but if I were to build more for myself I would definitely go with Model 1 Sales.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but the few Model 1 kit guns I saw had problems, which I heard were fixed when the barrel was replaced. hardly a representative sample but it would give me cause for concern.

try a search--lots of opinions on em

overall, lately at least, they seem to be pretty ok; i bought a bbl from em (16" shaw SS bull, 1-8)--it was a nice bbl, and the shipping was pretty quick

I have one of their 16" A3 HBAR uppers on a Stag lower.  It's fairly accurate (not a sub MOA gun, but decent at 100yds) and the only feeding/ejecting issues have been due to mags and ammo.  TAP 60-70gr bullets seem to work the best.  I only have an EOTech mounted on mine so you could probably get it more accurate with a good scope.  The finish was a little sketchy when i first got it, with whitish smears on it but that wore off the more i shot it and cleaned it.  I would buy from them again.

For the record I've never bought from them or delt with thier customer service, I've done 4 builds for friends from thier kits, they delt with the issues, I just assembled them and assisted with issues.

First & Forth were 100% problem free

Second one, I had LPK issues with both the trigger pin and hammer pin, hammer pin latter broke & a horrible finish on the upper and barrel, barrel came and looked like it was developing rust.

Third one, I had issues with the bolt carrier, seemed like the gas key was crooked, weapon seemed to bind, checked that, staked gas key, check head spaceing with M16 guages, came out good, latter the cam broke (replaced with a colt), then the bolt lost a few teeth (replaced with a colt) head space and timeing rechecked, everything fine... then the gas key started to come loose, and latter the carrier just stripped.  Carrier was replaced with a bushmaster, barrel was replaced at the same time with a used bushmaster and bolt... so far so good.

After dealing with the LPK on the second; I started on two builds of my own and for a few dollars more went with Rock River Arms on all parts except the lowers... I'm more than 100% satisfied with RRA.

I usally tell people looking at Model 1 Sales, to know that you can do a budget build and most of the time be satisfied, but you get what you pay for... when there's companys like Bushmaster, RRA, CMMG and other mid level places in the AR world, it's wise to just spend a few extra dollars.
