I'm trying to change the flash hider on my AR,now how the hell do I get the sonofabitch off?! It's got a split on one side so I think it's a locking? washer?? or is it a crush type??? My temper is at it's limits so here I am-halp! |

Sounds like a lock washer. If its not pinned then heat it up a bit and grab a breaker bar. Be damn sure its not pinned first. Used older barrel perhaps? If that is the case you are probably fighting carbon buildup. You can soak it in solvent as well for a little while after it cools down. Then go at it again. |
Try the water first. A torch can do baaaad things to the steel if it is improperly used. Also try putting an ice cube on the barrel before you put hot water on the flash hider... this will make the temp differential a lot greater. |

Actually Frank I thought about it and decided that if I go "hot" I'll grab the heat gun I have laying about first, but I'll go the water or cleaning solvent first. And @Wolf-Yea I figger things aren't so thick out at the end so I'm being less of my gorilla self ![]() And yes,I'm turning it the right way. |
