What factors should influence my decision to choose either a stainless steel barrel, or a chrome lined barrel?

What I've been told is basically that chrome moly will slowly, but more consitantly wear out.  You'll noticed changes in accuracy sooner, and they'll slowly creep to being worse and worse.

Where as a stainless steel barrel will shoot very good  for a longer time, then micro crack in the rifling and little peices will come out, and accuracy will go to hell quicker.

That's what I've been told.  (If that's not correct don't impale me....)

What part chrome plating would do in there, I assume would be a slight accuracy loss to the chrome moly for extended barrel life.

SS would be most accurate for the longest amount of rounds, then go kaput quickly, chrome lined would be less accurate, start losing accuracy sooner, but may remain marginally accurate for a longer time.

How many rounds are we talking about?  1,000, 5,000, 10,000?

depends on what you want to do.

I'm just about to finish a SPR style rifle so I went with a WOA 18" stainless barrel because it is going to be a target rifle. While i'm building a m4 style rifle with a chrome molly because it will last a bit longer and is cheaper.
